We realise that arranging homecare for yourself or your loved one is a big step and that you’ll have lots of questions. Below we have tried to answer the most commonly asked questions, but please feel free to call us if you’d like to discuss any aspect of homecare.

All our carers must have proven caring experience in either a private (e.g. caring for a family member in Ireland) or a hospital environment. We check references to validate caring experience. All carers are Garda vetted and must have an up-to-date People Handling Certificate. Fluent English and a valid working visa are also a requirement. We encourage all our carers to work towards FETAC Level 5 and many of our carers already have this.
Our carers are not permitted to administer medication as they are not medically qualified. They can however, prompt the client that medication needs to be taken.
Yes. Unfortunately Alzheimer’s / Dementia are on the increase in Ireland as is the case in many other countries. We have Carers with additional qualifications and experience in this area.
Yes, our Care Manager is a Registered General Nurse and she visits all new and existing clients to assess their care needs and also to carry out quality checks.
We understand that you’d like reassurance that the care that has been arranged and is being paid for is also being delivered, that’s why we have developed our “caretracker” service. Caretracker allows you to log on whenever you like, to check exactly who has visited your loved one’s home, and at exactly what times. It also allows you to see what visits are scheduled for the next few days. Care tracker can be accessed by as many family members as required, and there is no extra charge for using this service.

In addition, we maintain the Care Plan in your loved one’s home at all times, and a Care Journal is kept up to date so you can see at any time what Care is being delivered.

All Heritage Carers are also issued with a Carer Handbook outlining all of all our policies and procedures that must be adhered to.

We charge based on time (hours, days or nights care).

With the sole exception of Live-in Care, you only pay for the time you use .

We do not have a minimum booking period. However, we find that care visits of less than 60 minutes are not practical.
We pride ourselves on being a a local, owner-run service, not part of a large national or multi-national franchise. We know all of our customers by name and we can respond to each one’s needs as required. Our Care Manager Pauline Neary would be delighted to speak to you at any time.
We are focused on serving South Dublin very well.  The areas that we serve most frequently include Dun Laoghaire, Glasthule, Sandycove, Dalkey, Killiney, Shankhill, Cabinteely, Foxrock, Deans Grange, Monkstown, Blackrock, Donnybrook, Stillorgan, Dundrum and Sandyford.
